Otters at the bottom of our garden

We are blessed to have wild otters at the bottom of our garden.

They can appear on a regular basis and even when you can’t

see them, they can be heard peeping away.

Patience will reward those who are prepared to sit and wait for them to appear.

They are the most charming of creatures, and seem to be quite used to humans here in Newton Stewart.

We lay out fresh sprats for them to feed on

which encourages them to come onto the lower tier of our garden.

On a  starry starry night with a full moon, it can be quite enchanting to see

wild otters snake their way through the glassy pools in search of food.

These pictures were taken only 2 miles from us at the Woods of Cree

These shots were taken on our front garden in June 2011. The large Dog Otter sat for over two hours on the lawn devouring a large sea lamprey.
